The breakfast
A bit of a different post this week, it being the last jaunt in the country before Christmas, it was time for my friend and my’s annual Christmas shopping trip to Lewes! The reason we like to shop here at this time of year is that Lewes is quite a small centre to get round and many of the shops are small independents and stock unusual gifts. We always start the day with a hearty breakfast to fortify us for the day ahead! Bill’s is our usual choice and I’ve yet to find a breakfast to beat it!
The shopping
My daughter would have loved these animal-related diversions en route to the shops, especially the yapping dog when you threw money into the pot (still trying to work out how he did that…)
Was very tempted to buy one of these as a gift to myself!
Love Wickle – a treasure trove of goodies and a joy to browse. Very helpful staff too!
Now this was a gift from me, to me, with love from me! Works very well for a single cup of loose leaf tea.
I’d like one of these bags in every colour from the Needlemakers!
The lunch
After collecting dear daughter from college we parked up in Ditchling and went to Mister Magnolias, my new favourite country cafe, where we had soup and cake to share. A panini for dear daughter and plenty of entertainment at the colouring table. I was interested to see that they host films for kids and rent out the room upstairs for private functions.
Well, I think I have probably emptied my bank account in Lewes today! See you in January!
